This past, Sunday Rosh Chodesh Elul, my son turned 18.  I deeply felt I wanted to celebrate his 18th birthday
in an inspiring manner.  I thought  for a moment and decided on a visit to Har Habayit.
I asked my son how he felt about a visit  to Har Habayit and he said "Sababa".
We did all the necessary preparations and left early the next morning.
When we arrived to the line to go up to Har Habayit, my son could not believe how many tourists  just walked straight through security.  The "religious Jews"  waited about 1/2 hour and then the policeman read us the riot act of what one is not allowed to do on Har Habayit – no praying, no swaying, etc.

It was worth the wait as we began to walk with Rina Ariel, the mother of Hallel Ariel HY"D.
As we approached the gate that is named for Hallel, Rina's enthusiasm gave strength and emunah.
A  kallah was part of our group  and Rina's excitement  that the kallah had chosen  to come to Har Habayit on her
wedding day was inspiring.
In addition to Rina escorting us to Har Habayit, Rav Yisrael Ariel , head of Machon Hamikdash joined our group as well.
Rav Ariel had fought as a paratrooper  in the Six Day War, and he pointed out to us the exact places where he stood and fought, adding many additional explanations as we walked around, surrounded by police to make sure we "behave".
My son said a few times, “Wow this is amazingDespite the tight security, the impact of the holy site was powerful.

My son had experienced a few significant miracles in his life, one at the age of 3 when he was wounded in a terror attack and a bullet missed his brain stem by a millimeter.  In twomonths, he will be drafted to the army. I wanted to thank Hashem for the miracles and to request that he continues to watch over him, and of course, over all the soldiers that protect our country.

I want to thank all those who continue to fight for Har Habayit , this holy place, and for enabling me to take part.
May we all  be worthy together to go up to the third Beit Hamikdash.
